As I sit on Mount Olympus, I must admit I am quite impressed with Odysseus right now. He used good strategy to save his men from Polyphemus. Although I was disappointed as I watched him taunt the Cyclops on his way out. I did fear for him while he was with Circe, as I didn’t think he would be able to get out. While most of the other Gods up here are upset with him, I think Odysseus is quite sharp.

As Odysseus received the prophecy on the rest of his journey at the Land of the Dead, I was quite excited when I heard he must kill the suitors of his wife, Penelope. As this would mean war. And as Athena, I knew I just had to be a part of it. As I planned the way in which I would offer my help to Odysseus, the other Gods were planning his fall.

In a way that was not smart, cunning, or anything along those lines, Odysseus has taken his men to the land where the cattle of the sun god are. When he specifically was told not to go there. Oh, once again, this hero has disappointed me so. The other Gods are talking of having him sleep. Now he has fallen asleep. As I watch his men eating these cattle while he sleeps, I am disappointed all over again.

Now the day has finally come. Odysseus is home. I have gone to him and offered my services and he has accepted. And now he has revealed himself to the soon-to-be-sorry suitors. I am watching with glee as the fight is about to begin. Now I am going to help Odysseus fight. As I fight by he and his son’s side, I finally got what I was waiting for. And soon, the war is won.
